Final communiqué of the 29th GCC summit issued 7 Muscat

The Supreme Council approved the views of its Advisory Commission on
the phenomenon of inflation and price hikes, particularly its social
impact on the GCC's citizens and economies as well as the problems of
job-seekers and referred them to relevant ministerial committees.

The Supreme Council also assigned the Advisory Commission to conduct
studies on the global financial crisis with emphasis on its potential
effects on the GCC member states and measures that could be taken and
on food and water security of the GCC member states.

The communiqué also praised the outcome of the second periodical
meeting of speakers of GCC's shoura councils, houses of
representatives and national assemblies, noting their work aiming at
enhancing stability and prosperity in the region.

The Supreme Council reviewed the aspects of cooperation with Yemen,
noting the progress achieved during 2008 regarding the finance of
development projects.

The Supreme Council approved the accession of Yemen to the GCC's
Organization of Standardization, the Gulf Organization for Industrial
Consultations, the Authority of Accounting and Auditing and the Gulf
Radio and Television.
