Final communiqué of the 29th GCC summit issued 11 Muscat

On Iraq, the Council confirmed its firm position regarding the
respect of Iraq's unity, sovereignty, independence and
non-interference in its internal affairs and preservation of its Arab
and Islamic identity.

The communiqué also called for expediting the achievement of national
reconciliation in Iraq to make the comprehensive political process a
success.

The leaders also urged the United Nations and other relevant
authorities to continue efforts to reveal facts on Kuwait's claim for
long-awaited repatriation of its national archive and the fate of
remaining captives and the missing from the nationality of Kuwait and
other countries.

On Lebanon, the Council welcomed the country's entering a new
political phase to complete Doha Arrangement which was concluded
under the personal and direct auspices of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al
Thani of Qatar to pave the way for next year's parliamentary
elections in Lebanon.

The Council welcomed the restoration of diplomatic exchange between
Lebanon and Syria.

On Sudan, the Council expressed regret for the continuing human
sufferings in Darfur, lauding the efforts being exerted by Sudan
government to tackle the crisis.

The leaders also expressed solidarity with Sudan, rejecting the
International Criminal Court prosecutor's unbalanced position against
the country.

They are gearing forward to see successful negotiations between Sudan
government and armed rebels, expected to be held in Doha under the
sponsorship of Qatar's Emir, the communiqué said.

On Somalia, the Council regrets the deteriorating situation in the
African corn country, reiterating its call on all Somali factions to
halt violence and resort to peace and negotiations.

They expressed support for Djibouti's Arrangement reached on June 9,
2008 and urged all Somali parties to remain committed to Jeddah
agreement signed under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud aiming at ending the
human sufferings and bringing about security, stability and
prosperity for the people of Somalia.
