Foreign Minister attends GCC, US meeting

New York, Sep.30 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa took part in the 5th joint GCC Ministerial meeting with the US Secretary of State John Kerry held on the sidelines of the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. The meeting reviewed the relation between the GCC States and the United States and ways to further bolster these ties to broader horizons, as well as the issues of mutual interest to both parties, especially the political and security ones. They exchanged views on regional and international developments in order to coordinate their stance to ensure solving the root causes of the region’s conflicts and crises to strengthen the international peace and security. The communiqué of the meeting touched on partnership of the two sides, refugees, displaced people, Iran’s nuclear dossier, the situation in Yemen, Iraq, violence and terrorism, and the Palestinian cause.
