Al-Hasib calls for protecting Zabid architecture heritage

SANA'A, Dec. 31 (Saba)- Al-Hasib Society for popular heritage and
arts in Zabid Historical city called on concerned bodies to protect
the city and preserving its unique architecture.

The society clarified in its message it directed to minister of
culture that houses of poor and of limited income people are among
issues which not included in maintaining projects being carried out
in the city.

The society said this category represents the great number of owners
of the antique houses exposed to destruction and affection, a matter
forced their owners to flee them and live in tents and the others
left component of the houses.

The letter noted carrying out the experimental phase for paving 800
square meters in al-Jawzah quarter and that the General Authority
for Protecting Historical Cities has maintained 28 houses in
addition to maintaining another number of houses via loaning and
partial support from GTZ.
