TERNATE STUDENTS RALLY TO PROTEST ISRAELI ATTACKS

Ternate, N Maluku, Jan 2 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of students held a rally in two different places in the eastern Indonesian city of Ternate on Friday to protest against Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.
The students grouped in the Indonesian Muslim Students Movement (KAMMI) started their rally outside the local station of state broadcasting company (RRI) and later marched to the Gamalama market for the same purpose.
In his oration, the rally's coordinator, Iswan A Gafur, described as "uncivilized" the Israeli military aggression that killed hundreds of people and injured many others in the Gaza Strip.
Iswan called on the world community to pressure Israel into stopping its air strikes on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
At the tightly-guarded rally, the demonstrators also asked the peoples of Indonesia and other countries opposed to the Israeli military aggression to boycott Israeli and US products.
"We must boycott US products because the US has so far always defended Israel," he said.
