HMI ACTIVISTS IN TANJUNGPINANG BURN ISRAELI FLAGS

Tanjungpinang, Jan 3 (ANTARA) - At least 17 activists of the Islamic University Students Association (HMI) of Tanjungkarang chapter trampled down and burned Israeli flags at the Pamedan Field in protest against continuing Israeli air strikes on Palestinian targets on Saturday.
The burning of Israeli flags was witnessed by motorists and pedestrians which eventually caused a traffic jam on Ahmad Yani and Basuki Rahmat streets on Saturday.
"We really condemn the Israeli military brutality against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip," said HMI vhairman of Tanjungkarang chapter Marsudi said.
The demonstrators also desplayed various Israeli products already distributed in Tanjungkarang, the capital of Lampung province, to motorists and pedestrians.
By stopping to buy Israeli products on the market will help muslims to stop that country's violence in the Gaza Strip.
The activists also called on the people in Tanjungkarang to give such a kind of donation to help Palestinian victims who are now facing starvation following the Israeli attack and blockade.
"Let us help our Palestinian brothers through prayers, food and money to mitigate their sufferings," Marsudi said.
Indonesia was urged to cut its diplomatic relations with Israel including the United State of America which also supported Israeli military attack to the Gaza Strip.
"The government of Indonesia should urge Israel and America to recognize the sovereignty of legitimate Palestinian government," he said, adding that Indonesia should also insisted on the United Nations to take a firmer action against Israel.
However Israel and America were both war criminals and terrorist which deserved punishment, he cited.
