PMI INITIATES PROGRAM TO COLLECT DONATIONS FOR PALESTINE
Jakarta, Jan 3 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Jakarta has started a fund raising program by collecting donations from Indonesian people wishing to help Palestinians living outside the Gaza Strip.
A PMI spokesman in a release made available to ANTARA here on Saturday explained that people wishing to donate money could do it by tranferring the money to he PMI's account at BRI bank.
People could tranfer their donation to the PMI account Number 0390-01-000030-30-3 at BRI's Pancoran branch, Jakarta, in the name of Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI).
In the past few days, some components of the Indonesian community took the nitiative to help Palestinian citizens who had fallen victim to the Israeli military onslaugh.
The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) anticipated a one-person for one-dollar program with a targetted donation of about Rp2 billion for which a similar step was also adopted by the Crescent Star Party (PBB).
Earlier, it was reported that Israel had launched barbaric military air strikes on some Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. At least 435 Palestinians were reported killed and more than 2,200 others injured in the continuing air strikes.
Hamas guerillas had reportedly countered Israeli air attack by launching more than 360 rocket misiiles onto Israeli territory, thus killing six Israelis.
