PPP LEADER TO IGNORE INTERNAL PARTY CONFLICTS
Jakarta, Jan 4 (ANTARA) - United Development Party (PPP) Chairman Suryadharma Ali said he would ignore elements in the party who were trapped in conflicts and intrigue as he wanted to concentrate on efforts to win the general election.
"About those who are still engaged in conflicts, we will let them have their way. But I have to ignore them for the time being and concentrate more on efforts to win the election," he told the press here on Saturday.
He said internal party consolidation had been done and hence it was time for his party to implement its plans and various work programs in facing the general election to be held in April this year.
The party's internal consolidation had been completed but not 100 percent, Ali said.
"We can not spend much of our energy on settling the internal conflicts, while neglecting external consolidation," he said.
Furthermore, it was said that in this year, PPP party should enlarge external portion and therefore it was time for his party to be more offensive.
"Infrastructures, planning and targets have been built and it's time to implement them," he said while giving an example of his party's efforts to expand the marketshare of its constituents for a big tally of votes in the election later.
Commenting on indication of rift in his party following the manuever of the party's advisory council's chairman, Bachtiar Chamsyah who proposed for a coalition of four political parties such as PPP, Golkar, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Democrats Party (PD) in the pre-election, Suryadharma denied it as conflict.
However, he admitted there was no further communication between him and Chamsyah in the post meeting of four political parties helt at the Sahid Hotel on last Tuesday.
