EARTHQUAKE HITS ACEH ON MONDAY
Jakarta, Jan. 5 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted Aceh Province on Monday at 3.22 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake's epicenter was located at 7.33 degrees northern latitude, 92.52 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 89 km below sea level, around 349 km northwest of Sabang, Aceh, according to information from the national meteorological and geophysics offie (BMG) here on Monday.
The earthquake did not have potential to trigger a tsunami, according to BMG.
Meanwhile, a series of earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 5.0 to 7.6 on the Richter scale rocked Manokwari, West Papua, on Sunday (Jan. 4), killing four people and injuring dozens of others.
