BCCI delegation participates in GCC Businesswomen's Forum

Manama, Dec. 6 (BNA): A women delegation from Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) led by, Ahlam Janahi, BCCI's Board Member and Head of the Promotion, Exhibition, and Conferences Committee took part in the third Gulf Businesswomen's Forum themed "Challenging-Motivating-Enabling-Developing" on December 1-2 in the Qatari capital, Doha, under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani the Chairman of the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Chambers.
The forum comes as an extension of its previous editions held in Muscat in 2012 and Manama in 2014, and in a bid to build on their outcomes and emphasize women entrepreneurs in the GCC, the challenges they face, their role in their economies, and offer some practical suggestions and inferences for policy makers.
In this regard, Ahlam Janahi stressed "Our participation came in a bid to liaison with our counterparts from the GCC, share our challenges, and propose solutions". She added "It was also an opportunity to exhibit the progress Bahraini women have achieved under the wise leadership of Bahrain and the tremendous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women".
Janahi presented a work paper entitled "Empowering Gulf Businesswomen" in the first session which was themed "Challenges Faced by Gulf Women". The forum also included two other sessions entitled "Empowering Business Women: Entrepreneurial Challenges" and "Motivating Business Women" which witnessed participation from top business women and deliberated about current issues of concern.
The forum resulted in several recommendations, including the encouraging of the establishment of businesswomen alliances, creating a database under the umbrella of the Federation of GCC Chambers to facilitate the exchange of information among Gulf businesswomen, establishing a training and consulting center for business women, in addition to including business curriculums at primary stages of education.
