Emirates Red Crescent opens Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed City, four schools in Gaza
GAZA, 7th December 2015 (WAM) --- The Emirates Red Crescent, on Sunday opened the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed City in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza Strip, and four schools in the strip to support Palestinian families whose houses were destroyed in recent years.
The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed City includes 600 residential units and the four schools, with telecoms infrastructure, sewerage, water and electricity grid services. The project was built at a total cost of more than Dh101.7 million.
In a statement, the UAE humanitarian agency, said the residential city and schools are part of the initiatives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the support extended by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to improve the lives of Palestinians and alleviate their suffering.
These initiatives, it added, are being followed up by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent.
Four other schools will be built by the Emirates Red Crescent in Gaza Strip in the second phase of the project.
