Manama, Dec. 7 (BNA): Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, recently recognized four members of its workforce for having successfully completed International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Flight Operations Officer training at the Civil Aviation Training Center, Thailand. The four Bahraini attendees were Ahmed Ismael Alqassab, Adam Adnan Mohamed, Ahmed Abdulla Al Haddad and Sara Abdullah Khonji. All four are currently working at Gulf Air’s Integrated Operations Control Centre (IOC) that controls and manages the airline’s "Day of Operation" and next two days’ flight schedule and disruptions on a 24/7 basis. IOC is also responsible for maintaining joint Operational Control of all Gulf Air flights, the airline’s On Time Performance (OTP) and initial crisis/incident management and schedule recovery in addition to managing the communications systems between ground and aircraft. Gulf Air Chief Operations Officer Captain Nasser Al-Salmi congratulated the staff members and presented them with their certificates and licenses: "Gulf Air’s IOC presents a challenging and dynamic environment for which our workforce must be fully prepared for all eventualities. Obtaining this Flight Operations Officer training is critical to enhancing our capabilities and honing our skills in order to better serve the airline and our passengers. I am delighted to see members of the Gulf Air family embrace the opportunity to further their technical qualifications and capabilities." Adhering to ICAO training requirements for Operations Controllers, the 3 month long aviation training was followed by Flight Operations Officer’s license exams conducted by the Thailand department of Civil Aviation.
