STIMULUS TO SPUR ECONOMY TO 5 PERCENT

Having earmarked Rp50 trillion (US$6.9 billion) for a stimulus package to help the country survive the economic crisis, the government said on Monday the money could help the economy grow by as much as 5 percent this year and keep the unemployment rate flat. Therefore tight supervision should be made to the package away from missing the target.

ACTIVITY TEMPORARILY HALTED

Due to various criticism of the development of Majapahit Information Center, Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said on Monday that the development would be halted temporarily. Archaeologists and architects criticized the Majapahit Information Center because its development process had destroyed the site of Trowulan area, the capital of Majapahit kingdom in the 13th century.
