Thai 1,000 baht note named best Regional Banknote 2015
BANGKOK, Dec 11 (TNA) -- The Bank of Thailand (BoT) said that its final 1,000 baht note in series 16 has grabbed the winning the banknote excellence award at the Regional Banknote of the Year during the conference in Indonesia's capital Jakarta.
Deputy Director of the Note Printing Works sector of the BoT, Woraporn Tangsangasaksri said that the current or fifth edition of the 1,000 baht bill of the series 16, which went into circulation in September 2015, has been awarded The Best Regional Banknote of the Year 2015.
The award was given at the High Security Printing Asia 2015, which was held in Jakarta of Indonesia on December 8. The banknotes that were given the excellence awards must excel in beauty, production technology which prevents the highest level of forgery and most importantly the selected notes must reflect the cultural value of each country.
The 16th series of the Thai banknotes have been created to honour HM the King of Thailand and the new notes have been designed with the highest security features to prevent illegal imitations, as well as include tactile marks to help the visually-impaired clearly identify each of the different note.
Reconnaissance, the organisers of High Security Printing Asia said the award recognises outstanding achievement in the design, technical sophistication and security of a banknote or banknote series, the key judging criteria being that successful banknotes should combine visual artistry and high levels of technical and security sophistication, with considerable emphasis placed on reflecting the cultural heritage of the issuing country in the note, and the relevance of the overall design and symbolism to the issuing country.
