N MALUKU PKS RAISES RP100 MILLION FOR PALESTINE
Ternate, N Maluku, Jan 6 (ANTARA) - The North Maluku provincial chapter of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) during a fund raising campaign for Palestine over the past five days has suceeded in collecting Rp100 million, a spokesman said.
Previously, the PKS' Ternate city branch, had raised Rp63.7 million in collection activity at a number of public places in the town.
The chairman of the public policy section of PKS' North Maluku chapter, Saiful Ahmad M.Si, said here Tuesday the Rp100 million was raised from contributons from PKS members and sympathizers in North Maluku's districts and towns.
He said the charity program was not politically motivated and had been initiated purely because of PKS' concern about the fate of the Palestinian people as a consequence of Israel's recent military attacks.
"The preparedness of people accross North Maluku to donate to Palestine is quite high. The amount we raised has exceeded our expectations," he said.
He said the collected funds would be transferred to the bank account of the National Commission for Palestine without any deduction of administrative costs.
Saiful also guaranteed that the PKS would transparently reveal the results of its fund raising activities to the public.
