Ground attacks by Israeli military got resistance from the Palestinian fighters. As a consequence, the invasion did not run smoothly as expected. Israel lost five soldiers since the attacks on December 27.

Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Hassan Wirajuda called for an emergency meeting of the UN General Assembly to stop the Israeli aggression in Palestine. Indonesia is optimistic that the call will be supported by UN members and Non-Aligned Movement member countries.
