ANOTHER ANTI-ISRAELI PROTEST IN SURABAYA
Surabaya, Jan 7 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of activists from several Islamic organizations staged an anti-Israel rally in front of Grahadi building in Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday.
The protesters strongly condemned the relentless Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip that had left hundreds of Palestinian civilians and children dead.
Seen among the protesters were leaders of the local branches of major Islamic organizations such as KH Abdusshomad Buchori of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH Soleh Hayat of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), KH Nidhom of Muhammadiyah, Farida of Fatayat NU, Ibnu of Hizbut Tahirir Indonesia, and a number of activists from the Indonesian Islamic Propagation Institute (LDII), Ansor Youth Movement, and Al Irsyad who all condemned Israel in their orations.
After the orations, they marched from the Grahadi building to a center of Jewish activity on Kayun street to continue their protest.
"Let's continue our orations at the synagogue on Kayun street," said Soleh Hidayat, the spokesman of the protesters who marched under tight security to the Zionist religious center.
