Saudi Foreign Minister Calls on UN Security Council to End Israeli attack against Gaza 2 NEW YORK
Prince Saud pointed out that the destruction and killings during the
beginning of bombardment had not been enough to quell the thirst of
Israel or, in fact, to convince the Security Council to act. What
happened in Gaza can only be described as a terrible human crime that
will produce violence, extremism and the departure from the goal of
peace and security, which are used by Israel as a pretext for its
aggressions.
Prince Saud added that Israel has been responsible for ending the
cease-fire agreement because it has failed to comply with its
obligations under the terms of the cease-fire agreement concluded on
June 8, 2008 and it has violated the truce that was agreed upon by
the two parties providing for the stopping of firing of Palestinian
rockets on Israel for the opening of the crossings and the lifting of
the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian side has fully
committed to its obligations under the agreement, while Israel
continued its strangling hand on 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza in
an immoral act and without a response from the international
community.
