EAST NUSA TENGGARA CAN RELY ON ITS TOURISM
Kupang, Indonesia, Jan 7 (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) cannot force its tourism sector to be like those of Bali which is relying on the tourism sector for their economic development.
NTT must strengthen its agricultural sector as its economic development is supported by the sector, Head of the Nusa Cendana University research center in Kupang, Dr. Fred Benu said here Wednesday on the possibility of NTT to make tourism as a reliable sector.
"NTT still relies its economic development on agriculture. NTT cannot force the tourism development like that in Bali to support its economy," he said.
On a cooperation between the three region, namely NTT, Bali and NTB, he said that it is still based on the tourism sector, but NTT must push the integration of tourism and agriculture, known as agro-tourism.
Then, NTT's tourism sector can grow and develop better in the future to gain more foreign exchange and the agriculture sector also could develop.
This means NTT's tourism sector must also be forced and learn from Bali's tourist success by using cooperation momentum they have built, Fred Benu said.
