WEST JAKARTA FIRE KILLS EIGHT RESIDENTS
Jakarta, Jan. 8 (ANTARA) - A fire that broke out in a boarding house at Palmerah area, West Jakarta, killed eight people, in the wee hours of Thursday.
"All the boarders were asleep when the fire occurred," First Private Tatang said here on Thursday.
The fire was believed to have been caused by an electricity short circuit, he said. However, a witness said that the fire was due to an explosion of LPG tube.
The dead bodies had been rushed to Cipto Mangunkusumo Public Hospital (RSCM) for identification, he said.
Six out of the eight dead victims have been identified by the hospital, as Andri (28), Cipto (29), Dirman (35), Heri Wahyuni, Lina (25), and Radian (29).
The other two victims were not yet identified. One of the victims was a pregnant woman.
