BEI INDEX LOWER 2.35 PCT THURSDAY MORNING

Jakarta, Jan. 8 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) was slightly down Thursday morning following drops in regional stock markets.
In the first three minutes of trading, the IHSG fell 33.380 points or 2.35 percent to 1,388.09, and the LQ45 index dropped 8.970 points to 278.55.
Depreciated shares still dominated the market with 51 shares that lost, and 2 that managed to advance, and 61 which remained static.
Bumi Resources shares declined by Rp70 to Rp700, United Tractors shares were down by Rp200 to Rp5,250, state Telecommunication Company PT Telkom shares went down Rp50 to Rp6,950, state Tin mining company PT Timah shares decreased Rp40 to Rp1,180, Bukit Asan Coal mining company shares weakened Rp250 to Rp7,300, State Gas Company shares dropped Rp50 to Rp1,900, Bank Mandiri plunged Rp100 to Rp2,00, and Aneka Tambang mining company shares tumbled by Rp50 to Rp1,180.
BNI Securities analyst Muhammad Alfatih said the Indonesian stocks opened lower Thursday morning as investor sentiment was dented by overnight falls in U.S. and regional markets.
Meanwhile, the rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market on Thursday morning as market players released the local currency for profit taking.
The rupiah was trading at Rp10,900/10,985 per US dollar, down 85 points from Rp10,815/10,900.
