Prince Saud says Arab Peace Initiative is still on offer
New York, Jan 08, SPA -- Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal
told reporters in New York on Wednesday that the Arab Peace Plan is
still on offer and its acceptance by Israel would bring peace to the
Middle East.
“The path to security is through peace not war. In 2002, the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud
proposed a peace plan to end the Arab-Israeli conflict, a simple,
straightforward plan. The Arab Peace Initiative calls for the
withdrawal of Israel from the Occupied Territories and the
establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as
its capital. The initiative paves the way for the end of the
conflict, and it is still on the table.”
Prince Saud said, however, that “before any negotiations can start,
the fighting has to stop.” Tuesday marked the twelfth day of Israeli
bombardment of Gaza, which has left more than 700 people dead and
close to 3,000 injured.
