PRESIDENT, MINISTERS DISCUSS IMPACT OF AUTOMOTIVE FUEL PRICE CUTS

Jakarta, Jan 9 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono chaired a limited cabinet meeting on Friday morning to discuss the impact of the recent premium gasoline and diesel oil price cuts on the national economy in general.

Minister/State Secretary Hatta Rajasa said before the meeting at the presidential office, the president and concerned ministers were to take up the results of an economic ministers' coordination meeting held on Thursday night.

"The impact of the premium gasoline and diesel oil price reductions on the economy in general was discussed at Thursday night's coordination meeting," Hatta Rajasa said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman MS Hidayat, who had also been invited to the limited cabinet meeting, said the meeting would dwell on the impact of the automotive fuel price cuts on the prices of basic necessaries.

President Yudhoyono had earlier said he would study the effect of the lowering of the automotive fuel oil price on the real sector as it seemed not to have caused declines in the prices of basic necessaries and transport fares.

The government recently lowered the premium gasoline price from Rp6,000 per liter to Rp5,000 per liter and diesel oil from Rp5,500 per liter to Rp4,800 per liter.

Seen at the presidential office to attend the limited cabinet session were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Trade Minister Mari Pangestu, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriyantono, and Transportation Minister Jusman Syafei Djamal.
