Cultural projects discussed

Manama, Feb. 23 (BNA): Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa received Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Esam Abdulla Khalaf and discussed cooperation to turn Bahrain into a pioneering destination for cultural tourism. The meeting focused on progress of work on the pearl trail, which features on the UNESCO list of international heritage sites, in addition to parking lots, public spaces and the beautification of building facades over 3 kilometres in Muharraq. The iconic route, which is scheduled to be complete in 2018, will be a key milestone of Muharraq, feted as Capital of Islamic Culture.
