MUHAMMADIYAH STUDENTS RALLY OUTSIDE US EMBASSY

Jakarta, Jan 9 (ANTARA) - Hundreds of students claiming to belong to the Alliance of Muhammadiyah Students (AMM) from across Jakarta and neighboring towns rallied in front of the US embassy here on Friday to condemn Israel over its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
In the demonstration tightly guarded by hundreds of policemen, the students called Israel "the true terrorist" because of its aggression in Gaza that had claimed hundreds of lives, including those of children.
The students during the demonstration only listened to orations and had no wish to meet with any representative of the US embassy.
After concluding their rally, the students dispersed orderly and left the location in several mini-buses.
The AMM rally outside the US embassy was expected to be followed by demonstrations by other mass organizations later in the day.
The US embassy has been a frequent target of anti-Israeli demonstrations lately because the US is considered to be tacitly supporting Israel's military aggression against Palestine
