Convicted terrorists sentenced to five-year prison terms

Manama, Feb. 25 (BNA): Advocate General and Chief of Terror Crimes Prosecution, Ahmed Al-Hammadi,today announced that the High Criminal Court had sentenced several individuals to five years in prison on charges of receiving explosives and weapons training in Iraq. The Advocate General said that the individuals had been recruited in order to carry out terrorist acts within Bahrain. The court heard that investigations carried out by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, which included witness testimonies and the examination of forensic evidence, found that the individuals had received training on the manufacturing and use of explosives at military camps in Iraq. The Advocate General confirmed that the individuals were afforded full legal rights throughout the trial, and that they continue to have access to legal counsel as guaranteed by Bahraini law.
