Saudi land relief convoy to Palestinians in Gaza starts on
Riyadh, January 09, SPA -- The first Saudi land relief convoy is set
to leave Riyadh on Monday heading for Gaza Strip en route Rafah,
Egypt, Saudi Arabia's third giant move to help alleviate the
sufferings of Palestinians in the aftermath of the Israeli air raids
on and land siege of Gaza Strip following a sizable relief airlift
from Riyadh to Rafah and medical evacuation shuttles from Rafah to
Saudi hospitals.
The land relief initiative comes upon directives of the Custodian of
the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to continue
efforts to provide relief to the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip.
As are the ongoing relief airlift and air ambulance shuttles, next
Monday's move is directly overseen by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz,
Minister of Interior, who is also Supervisor General of the Custodian
of the Two Holy Mosques' campaign for Relief of the Palestinian
People in Gaza.
Dr. Saed Alorabi Al-Harthi, Advisor to the Minister of Interior and
Chairman of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques' Relief Campaign
for the Palestinian People in Gaza, said that the land relief convoy
takes place in coordination with the relevant bodies in the two
destinations.
The in-kind relief aid includes dates, rice, flour, sugar, milk and
canned foodstuff in addition to clothes, covers, heaters, urgent
medical and emergency supplies: intra venous fluids (IVF), medical
formulae and ambulances " he added.
Dr. Al-Harthi stated that distribution of Saudi relief started last
Thursday inside Gaza Strip through five distribution centers. Work is
underway to open more distribution centers to cover all areas of the
strip to ensure that all Gaza population receive Saudi relief.
