World Civil Defence Day marked

Manama, Mar.5 (BNA): Under the patronage of Interior Minister, Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the General Director of Civil Defence has held a celebration to mark the World Civil Defence day under the theme " Civil Defence and Modern Information Technology in the Media". The event was coordinated with the Education ministry, General Organisation of Youth and Sports, Muharraq Municipality and a number of Interior Ministry’s directorates and major industrial companies at the Prince Khalifa bin Salman Part in Hidd. Deputy General Director of Civil Defence, Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Amer asserted that the General Directorate receives support of the wise government by providing all required equipments and manpower. He praised the minister’s directives that helped the department to carry duties with efficiency and competency as part of the modernization strategy related to the development of civil defence fleet, equipments and manpower. He also hailed the follow up of the Chief of Public Security to reinforce security and safety of the public and protection of the nation and its achievements. The celebration included various activities, such as awareness and the honouring of civil defence personnel who were distinguished in rescue, firefighting and training operations. The event included also general safety lectures and brief on evacuation.
