Capital governor lauds launch of SCW portfolio

Manama, Mar.9 (BNA): Capital Governor Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa has congratulated Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and the Bahraini women on the International Women's Day (IWD), which comes this year in light of several achievements thanks to the keen interest of HRH Princess Sabeeka and support of the leadership to empower women in the prosperous era of His Majesty King. The capital governor highlighted the Bahraini women landmark achievements in all fields over the past years, thanks to the support of the SCW, which helped women hold important positions on the local and international levels and in political, economic and social fields. He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the SCW exerted tireless efforts to implement its international commitments like the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and Beijing Platform for Action, which embodies Bahrain's keenness on honouring women.
