Of the amount, Rp700 million had been contributed by the Indonesian government, Rp900 million by non-governmental organization MER-C and Rp500 million by the Indonesian Red Crescent.
Previously, on January 5, the team was in Amman, Jordan, where it handed Rp300 million worth of medicines and Rp1 billion in cash to Palestinian Health Minister Fathi Abu Moughli.
Led by Dr Rustam S Pakaya, head of the health ministry's Crisis Management Center, the team included Aidil Chandra Salim, director of Middle East affairs at the foreign ministry, Dr Lucky Tjahjono of the Crisis Management Center, Dr Joserizal Jurnalis SpOT of MER-C, Muhammad Mursalim of MER-C, Dr Agus Kooshartono and Dr Basuki Supartono of the Indonesian Red Crescent (BSMI) and Arif Rahman of Muhammadiyah (the country's second largest Muslim organization) and several journalists.

Three members of the medical MER-C team, namely Joserizal Jurnalis, Indragiri and Sarbini Abdul Muradz, on Saturday were still in El-Arish, an Egyptian town closest to Rafah, to try to find a way of getting into the Gaza Strip.
International news agencies had reported that some 1.5 million people living in the Gaza Strip are now in dire need of food following the Isreali military attacks since December 27 last year which had killed around 800 people and injured thousands of others, mostly civilians.
Nancy Ronan, an official of the UN World Food Program (WFP), told journalists that 80 percent of Gaza residents now depend on contributed food.
