Scamp Theatre Brings magical tales to Bahraini children

Manama, Mar. 13 (BNA): Award-winning Scamp Theatre brings its show Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales to Bahrain. The show, based on the bestselling children’s book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, will be performed at the Alumni Club on Friday and Saturday March 18th and 19th as part of the Spring of Culture 2016 Festival. These terrific tales are woven together with a number of colorful characters, puppets, and music. The show will take the children and their families on an epic journey through different backdrops from the ocean to the jungle. The show has gained world-wide recognition, and was praised in numerous reviews, in UK media such as The Guardian. Broadway Baby, a theatre review guide, stated "A feast of storytelling that thrills children and parents alike. A masterpiece". Scamp’s theatrical performance has gained the interest of many observers including Michael Morpurgo from British Newspaper the Independent who wrote, "I think the quality of what Scamp do is amazing". Globally recognised children’s laureate Julia Donaldson described the group as "Lively and innovative" Scamp Theatre was founded in 2003 at the hands of award-winning international producers, Jennifer Sutherland and Louise Callow. The group has built a reputation, mastering art performances for various age groups in the theatre district, with an increased focus on adaptation, particularly in children’s literature. The group took part in major theatre festivals in London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, the US, and other countries around the world. The group has received multiple awards including the "Total Theatre Award" in 2011, the "Fringe First Winner" in 2005, and "the Manchester Evening News Award" for Best Solo Performance in 2005.
