GPIC hosts employee awareness lecture

Manama, Mar. 13 (BNA): The Health Committee at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) organized a Lecture on Osteopathy Medicine by Back on the Move Osteopathy presenters Lana Peters and Flaka Bambachi. Peters and Bambachi thanked the Company Management, headed by its President. Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, for organising the lecture to spread awareness not only among GPIC's employees but also in society. Ms. Peters reviewed basic and comprehensive information about osteopathy medicine and problems people could face with long hours of sitting at work. Bambachi, in her Lecture, spoke on the importance of having plenty of drinking water during work, as well as the causes and methods of treating vitamin D deficiency. The lecture comes as part of GPIC’s efforts to contribute towards generating awareness for the Company's employees on the causes and effects of the condition. The Company shows great interest in the growth and development of Bahraini human resources by providing them access to specialized courses and awareness Lectures at home and abroad. Employees also regularly attend forums and programmes in coordination with other partner companies to identify their training needs and the best ways to fulfil those needs. "Osteopathy" is a way of detecting, treating and preventing health problems by moving, stretching and massaging a person's muscles and joints. It is based on the principle that the well being of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together. It is practiced in Europe and other Countries around the world and used to relieve muscular and skeletal conditions. The practice of osteopathy began in the United States in 1874. Andrew Taylor Still, a physician and surgeon, and one of the founders of Baker University, coined the term "Osteopathy".
