Kuwaiti support to AGU praised

Manama, Mar. 15 (BNA): Arabian Gulf University (AGU) President Dr. Khalid Abdul-Rahman Al-Ohaly has praised Kuwait for its support to AGU since its founding. Dr. Al-Ohaly's statement marked the signing of a cooperation agreement between AGU and Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). The agreement covers joint pursuit of research projects, overseeing thesis and dissertation processes on technical and environmental subjects, exchanging teaching staff, organizing academic symposiums, seminars and workshops, said Dr. Al-Ohaly. He noted that the relations between AGU and Kuwait go back a long time since Kuwait embraced the notion of having a pan-Gulf university see the light, currently embodied in AGU which cannot do without Kuwait's support in its educational projects. Furthermore, he expressed pride in the confidence KISR has placed in AGU and emphasized that the latter has in recent times established a number of research and clinical centres such as the Amira Jawhara centre for heredity sciences. In a similar press statement, KISR director Dr. Sameera Omar commented on the signing of the joint agreement, saying that it would ease the funding and implementing of joint research projects, whereby both sides would share facilities such as labs and equipment and research staff in a bid to economize. She said KISR paid great attention to regional and international cooperation in joint research undertakings through its four research centers dealing with petroleum research, environment, water research, and energy and building research.
