Bahrain participates in UN anti-narcotic meeting

Vienna, Mar 16 (BNA): Southern Governor, member of National Anti-narcotics Committee also Head of Together to Fight Combat Violence and Addiction Programme (Ma'an), Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, has led Bahrain's delegation to the opening of the 59th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drug held on 13 March 2016. Southern Governor highlighted Bahrain's keenness to bolster Arab and international cooperation to counter narcotic drug, welcoming the interior minister's directives and the national anti-narcotic efforts. On the sidelines of meeting, an exhibition to accentuate the GCC anti-narcotic effort was held with the participation of GCC anti-narcotic directors, UN Representative of UN Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as Director of UN Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Yury Fedotov. Bahrain's delegation gave an overview of the national anti-narcotic strategy and Together to Fight Combat Violence and Addiction Programme. Southern Governor underlined the importance of exchange of expertise and strategies related to anti-narcotic.
