Deputy premier praises Bahrain's human rights record

Manama, Mar. 17 (BNA): On behalf of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has received the first annual report of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC) for 2014-2015.
This came as the deputy premier received at the Gudaibiya palace today the PDRC Chairman Nawaf Al-Ma'awda, who handed over to him the report.
Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa expressed thanks and appreciation to PDRC and its officials for the efforts they had exerted to compile the report, highlighting the importance of PDRC's role in consolidating and preserving human rights in the kingdom.
He affirmed that the kingdom boats of an outstanding human rights record based on modern constitutional foundations and an umbrella of advanced laws that made the principles of human rights as a central pillar in Bahrain's policies.
The deputy premier lauded the valuable information and data included in PDRC's report, which, he said, reflects the panel's success in monitoring the development in the conditions of prisoners and detainees, wishing it further success.
Nawaf Al-Ma'awda extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his constant care and support for all human rights bodies and institutions, in line with his strong belief in the importance in enhancing human rights, being an indicator of countries' development and civilisation.
Thanks to HRH Premier's support, PDRC has succeeded to assume its role with the utmost impartiality and independence.
