Civil Aviation Authority applies ban on materials in passengers` hand luggage
Riyadh, January 11, SPA --The General Authority for Civil Aviation
will begin the application of the ban on carrying liquids, gel
materials, and pressurized spray cans in the hand luggage of
passengers at all Saudi airports in collaboration with the Ministry
of the Interior.
The ban is limited to the hand luggage of passengers of
the international flights only and does not include domestic flights
in Saudi Arabia.
The application of the ban is in implementation of the
recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO
in a series of preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the
security and safety of flights in the wake of the emergence of new
forms of threats to use some of these banned substances against civil
aviation in different parts of the world.
The ban will include all liquids packaged in plastic bottles, glass
or metal of more than allowed quantity of 100 mm containing liquid or
compressed gas, water or juice drinks, perfumes and oils of all
kinds, as well as gels and pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, shampoo and
toothpaste as well as air fresheners and cleaning spray.
