Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Deputy Chairman receives Pakistani lawmaker

Manama, March 20 (BNA): Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa received today Pakistani parliamentarian and President of the Muslim Scholars Association Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman. He emphasised the need to foster values of co-existence to achieve social peace, lauding the pioneering Bahraini model of co-existence thanks to the wisdom of the leadership and the Bahraini people throughout the kingdom's history. Shaikh Abdulrahman welcomed the Pakistani delegation, commending the role of the Pakistani scholars in promoting Islam and fostering moderation. He also praised the lecture given by Maulana Fazl Ur Rehman under the theme "Security and Co-existence" which was organised by Isa Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Bahrain Society for Tolerance and Religious Coexistence. He stressed that the world is in dire need of those constructive values to deter extremism and terrorism. He also reviewed the vision of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs which is based on promoting moderation and renouncing extremism, praising the leadership's support for the council. On his part, the Pakistani lawmaker commended Bahrain's sound experience in promoting co-existence and moderation, hailing the efforts of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in this respect and reiterating keenness of Pakistan's Muslim Scholars Association to bolster cooperation with it. He also thanked Shaikh Abdulrahman for the meeting, lauding his efforts to promote good values.
