TBS holds business meeting

Manama, Mar. 21 (BNA): The Technology and Business Society (TBS) recently held its regular meeting, in the presence of TBS Chairman, Essam Hadi, and several board members and affiliates, as well as representatives of a number of public and private institutions in the Kingdom.
The meeting, held at the meeting hall of the Arcapita building in Bahrain Bay, featured a number of presentations by TBS members on their experience in the field of Information technology, and ways to make optimum advantage of those experiences and use them in the business sector.
TBS member and associate professor at University of Bahrain (UoB) Dr. Ayesha Bu Shaqr gave a presentation about the development and patterns of e-learning, noting that e-learning has become the best means to convey information amid youth’s great interest in using various kinds of digital technology. She affirmed that the rapid development in the applications and technology of smart phones and devices had entitled to be the main provider of information.
Dr. Bu Shaqr called on public and private sector institutions, especially the educational ones, to take utmost advantage of the applications and programs provided by digital technology in order to be able to achieve their goals in education. She pointed out that the world was moving towards spreading e-learning instead of the old-fashioned teaching which is based on books and papers and traditional ways and strategies.
On his part, TBS member and member of the Chief Information Officers’ Advisory Council, Khalid Jalal, gave a presentation in which he highlighted TBS’ participation in IDC Middle East CIO Summit 2016 (IDC Abu Dhabi 2016), held recently in Abu Dhabi. He asserted that all public and private institutions should take advantage of modern projects in the field of information technology, noting that Bahrain has made significant strides in IT in all fields.
TBS Chairman, Hadi, then talked about the partnership projects launched between the Technology and Business Society and a number of vital sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain, lauding the positive interaction of many institutions with TBS initiatives, citing the UoB, the Council of Representatives and the International Riffa Views School. He added that TBS is currently working the UoB to establish the Student Supervision Programme in the field of information technology, in collaboration with UoB, explaining that the UoB had allocated 20 students to be IT supervisors in order to inform their peers on the latest developments in the information and communication technology and enhance their academic achievements through field experience in the field.
The Technology and Business Society (TBS) seeks to achieve many objectives. They include boosting the ICT industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain to upgrade its international competitive potentials and promoting the use of the information technology in the medium and large enterprises through making them adopt the latest IT innovations.
TBS also supports and promotes eco-friendly green technology, supports Information technology security in medium and large enterprises, and provides strategic consultations in the IT field to contribute to building and developing the future strategies of medium and large enterprises. In addition, it focuses on building and developing capacities and scientific and profession skills in the IT field and achieves constructive interaction among all its members.
