HRH Premier receives SCH president

Manama, Mar. 23 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for focusing efforts on promoting lifestyles that help avoid chronic diseases, especially regarding diabetes, and intensifying awareness-raising campaigns to limit their spread. He stressed the need to focus on research and studies that highlight the latest scientific findings on ways to deal with chronic diseases, as well as their treatment and prevention from them, and intensify conferences that shed light on hereditary and chronic diseases and the necessary strategies to treat them. HRH Premier made the remarks as he received, at the Gudaibiya Palace today, the President of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH) and Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Society (BDS) Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who introduced to him the members of the scientific and media committee of the Fourth Diabetes Conference and Exhibition, hosted recently by the kingdom under HRH the Prime Minister's patronage. HRH Prince Khalifa commended the efforts exerted by the BDS and the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes (GGSD) in organising this year's conference, emphasising his constant support to all medical gatherings and conference aiming to be platforms for sharing expertise and opinions on various health and medical issues. Such events support the government's efforts in providing high-quality health care for the citizens and residents, HRH Premier explained, urging more cooperation between the relevant official sides and NGOs to reach the best ways to deal with diabetes patients and provide them with the best treatment. Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for patronising the Fourth Diabetes Conference and Exhibition. He stressed that HRH the Prime Minister's patronage and support ensured the success of the high-profile medical event.
