Old Manama Suq plan approved

Manama, Mar. 27 (BNA): A plan to turn Manama Suq into a trade hub and tourism destination has today been unveiled. The scheme was approved during a meeting which brought together Bahrain Authority for Tourism and Exhibitions (BATE) Acting Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa and the team in charge of the Old Manama Suq Development project. The meeting was attended by Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Old Suqs Development Committee Chairman Khalid Al-Zayani and other members. Mp. Ahmed Qarata and Manama Trustees Chairman Mohammed Al-Khozai were also present. Urban and Old Suqs development expert Hank Dittmar staged a presentation on plans to revamp Manama Suq and turn it into a trade hub and tourism destination without losing its urban identity. Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa said that a comprehensive plan had been endorsed to develop the old Manama Suq in cooperation with the private sector, represented by the (BCCI) Old Suqs Development Committee and other concerned parties. .
