Energy minister receives TOGY delegation

Manama, Mar. 28 (BNA): Energy Minister Dr. Abdulhussain bin Ali Mirza received a delegation from "The Oil & Gas Year" (TOGY) magazine headed by its regional director, Annie Michailidou. The minister welcomed the delegation's visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain and briefed them on the history of development of oil and gas industry in the Kingdom. The discussion touched on developments of exploration, production, regional cooperation, and oil industries and gas policies. The minister gave a detailed presentation to the delegation on the key initiatives in the energy sector in Bahrain. He said the Kingdom of Bahrain has a clear national strategy for sustainability of energy to meet the country's requirements and aspirations of energy, citing 14 initiatives and projects including the Bahrain Refinery Development project, the A-B Pipeline Replacement project, the LNPG Terminal, Bangas Expansion, GPIC Expansion, Sea and Land Oil Exploration, Sustainable Energy Unit, National Energy Efficiency Plan, the National Plan for Renewable Energy, the GCC Gas Link, and the importation of electricity through the Gulf Electricity Grid. Dr. Mirza said these projects are mutually-integrated to achieve the Kingdom of Bahrain's energy sustainability through three major goals: increasing oil and gas productivity hence government revenues, saving energy consumption and harnessing other alternatives other than fossil fuel. The magazine's delegation members expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the ministry, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further advancement and prosperity.
