F1 added value to economic, civilisational, sport achievements

Manama, March 31 (BNA): Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi lauded Bahrain International Circuit (BIC)'s hosting of Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, being a major international event that reflects the kingdom's high human, organisational and technical capabilities. He also stressed Bahrain's modern and comprehensive infrastructure as well as its well-reputed standing in the international sport, tourism and media fields.
He asserted that Bahrain's hosting of F1 world championship for the 12th year at BIC, the home of motorsport in the Middle East, is an added value to the ongoing development, civilisational and sport achievements brought about in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also underlined contribution of F1 to the national economy by invigorating the tourism and trade sector. He added that the wide range of economic and civilisational gains reflect the farsighted vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, who was confident in success of the project and transforming Sakhir into an international oasis attracting the attention of millions of viewers and fans from all over the world.
The Information Minister welcomed the presence of more than 500 media persons from international mass media and news agencies to cover the international event on the field and from inside the state-of-the-art media centre. He also pointed out the influx of around 100,000 visitors to follow the race and enjoy its associated recreational activities. He affirmed that main aim of F1 championship is to highlight Bahrain's capabilities as a major host of international events as well as its standing as a model of peace, tolerance and co-existence.
