ٍSaudi Health Relief Efforts for Palestinians Highlighted 2 Riyadh
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz
ordered launching an urgent airlift to transport medicines, medical
supplies and medevac aircraft to lift the wounded and injured for
treatment in Saudi hospitals.
Upon directives of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, a joint committee
working round the clock was formed from Saudi relevant ministries and
semi-governmental bodies.
Stressing the care of Saudi relevant authorities for Palestinians,
the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques ordered the medical care
provided to injured Palestinians, on 05/01/1430H corresponding to
02/01/2009. He visited a number of injured Palestinians who were
rushed to Saudi hospitals among the first batch, where he was
reassured about their health.
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz also ordered the launch of an urgent
public fund-raising telethon all over the Kingdom's regions for
support and relief of the Palestinians under direct supervision of
Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior. All Saudi segments
contributed to the campaign yielding a total of SR 177,504,544 in
cash together with medicines, medical supplies and ambulances donated
by several corporate entities.
At the Arab level, Saudi Arabia hosts the emergency meeting of the
Council of Arab Health Ministers scheduled for Riyadh on 13/01/2009.
