SJC chairman participates in GCC consultative meeting

Manama, Apr. 11 (BNA): The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC)'s Chairman and Head of the Court of Cassation, Chancellor Salim bin Mohammed Al Kowari, is due to depart tomorrow to attend the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s Third Consultative Meeting of the Heads of High Courts and the Courts of Cassation, slated to be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on April 13-14. The consultative meeting will discuss the GCC strategic plan for high courts and courts of cassation besides preparation and qualification of magistrates for these courts. The judiciary officials will also discuss the resolution passed by the Supreme Council in its fourth session in the State of Kuwait in December 2013 regarding the perpetual programme for GCC youth to contribute in voluntary work and the UAE Supreme Federal Court's proposal. Chancellor Al Kowari stressed the importance of such consultative meetings among GCC judiciary officials to develop the overall judiciary setup and culminate in upgrading judiciary work. The kingdom's delegation headed by Chancellor Salem Al Kowari comprises Judge Abdullah M. Al Ashraf the Judge in High Civil Court of Appeal; and, Hisham M. Al Qaisi the Manager of Chancellor Salem Al Kowari's Office.
