KCNA Commentary on Validity of DPRK's Measures to Bolster up Nuclear Deterrence

Pyongyang, April 16 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is vociferously terming the DPRK's measures for bolstering up nuclear deterrence as "provocations" in the international arena in a bid to give impression that the former is concerned for scrapping nuclear weapons worldwide. It was censured for its trite shameful behavior at the recent 4th "Nuclear Security Summit" held in Washington and G-7 foreign ministers' meeting in Hiroshima. Foreign media assert that the DPRK's nuclear program and tests serve as strong deterrence to cope with the U.S. moves for aggression and the U.S.-south Korea joint military drills are harassing peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and escalating tensions there. The U.S. nuclear threat and blackmail and joint military drills are the source of pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war. Their nuclear war rehearsal for aggression clearly proves once again what is the root cause of escalating tension on the Korean peninsula. The DPRK's bolstering of nuclear deterrence is the most just and realistic way for ensuring peace on the Korean peninsula, the biggest hotbed in the world. The stronger the striking capability of the DPRK's nuclear weapons grows, the more powerful the capability to deter aggression and war will become.
