MPs urged to go ahead in assuming national role

Manama, Apr. 18 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa praised the parliamentary momentum in Bahrain and the key role played by members of the legislature in the political, legislative and monitoring scene. He was speaking as he received at Gudaibiya Palace today Representatives Council Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, MPs, Shura Council members and senior officials. HRH the Premier underscored the great national responsibility of members of the Representatives Council in serving citizens, reiterating the government's keenness to provide every support to boost cooperation between the legislative and executive branches and back the MPs' legislative and monitoring role. He urged to overcome differences to maximize national achievements and bolster the democratic practice, commending democratic maturity of the MPs. He also called to rally ranks, stressing the need to place the national interest above anything else. He pointed out the possibility for everyone to choose a different path in national work as long as the ultimate goal is serving the interest of the nation and citizens. HRH the Prime Minister underlined the need for stronger Arab cooperation, mainly in the parliamentary field, to overcome current challenges and strengthen the Arab contribution to global decision-making. He emphasised the importance of Arab parliamentary meetings, mainly the meetings of the Arab parliamentary Union (APU), and congratulated First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council Jamal Mohammed Fakhro on the Parliamentary Excellence Award granted to him by APU. HRH the Premier underscored the importance of pan-Arab coordination to tackle challenges, stressing the need to boost tourism in Arab countries by promoting security and stability.
