Four jailed for planning armed attacks on officers

06 : 47 PM - 21/04/2016 Manama, Apr. 21 (BNA): The Chief of Anti-terror Crime Prosecution, Advocate General Hamad Al Buainain, today said that the High Criminal Court had found four individuals guilty of possessing firearms and ammunition, with intent to use the firearms in terrorist activities, and physical assault of police officers. The Advocate General confirmed that the individuals were sentenced to between one and fifteen years in prison, as well as being ordered to pay damages. The prosecution evidence presented to court followed extensive investigations and contained forensic evidence reports and testimonies from a number of witnesses. Advocate General Al Buainain confirmed that the defendants had been afforded full legal rights throughout the trial, as guaranteed by Bahraini law, and have the right to appeal the High Criminal Court’s judgment at the Court of Appeal.
