Bahrain participates in UN discussions on achieving sustainable development goals

New York, Apr. 24 (BNA): Bahrain's constant steps in carrying out major development projects have been stressed. The kingdom's delegation asserted during high-profile discussions of the UN General Assembly in New York applicability of the sustainable development goals. Head of the delegation Dr. Mohammed Mubarak bin Daina, the Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment, spotlighted examples of Bahrain's success in diversifying its economy and resources. He said the environmental situation in Bahrain is assuring, pointing out the role of the Economic Vision 2030 in drawing a line between environmental deterioration and economic growth.
Dr. bin Daina was speaking at a meeting held by the President of the UN General Assembly with the participating countries in the high-profile discussions to boost awareness and political momentum on applying the 17 main sustainable development goals and their 169 sub-ones so as to harmonize them with Paris Agreement on climate change.
Participants in the meeting called to promote cooperation to ensure success of the agreement.
