Governor of St. Petersburg visits GPIC

Manama, Apr. 26 (BNA): Governor of St. Petersburg in the Russia Federation Georgi Boltavchenko visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) along with Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa as part of GPIC’s initiative to promote cooperation in various fields. GPIC General Manager Manufacturing Fadhel Al Ansari received the visiting, which also included representatives of various Russian Government and private sector institutions. The Capital Governor said Bahrain is keen to open new horizons in economic cooperation and investment with Russia and added the visit would establish and develop projects and economic activities that, in turn, would further strengthen relations between the two countries. He said Bahrain gives a lot of incentives and provides facilities to foreign companies and its regulations and legislations are transparent as well as attractive. He said the most important of these are the freedom of 100 per cent foreign ownership of companies and institutions in all sectors, and the absence of taxes on economic activities. In addition, he said, the cost of living is low and this has made Bahrain a business hub in the Middle East and North Africa. Mr. Al Ansari conveyed to the delegation the greetings of GPIC President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, who is now on a visit abroad. He briefed them on the Company's business philosophy and strategy, which is an example of professionalism. They were also told about the sophisticated factories and distinct and environmental projects. During the meeting, the two sides discussed topics related to leadership; Management and methodology of the Company's business and Officials threw light on the Company's flexible policies to overcome the crises, fluctuations and fierce competition in global markets. They also discussed aspects of cooperation between GPIC and Russian Companies, particularly in the field of exchanging experiences and increasing visits between the two sides. Mr. Al Ansari also briefed the delegation on Plants operations and the e-learning centre. The guests were then escorted on a tour of the Company's Plants during which they listened to a briefing on production and export operations. They visited the environmental projects within the complex, including the green belt, which covers around 12.64 per cent of the total area. The visiting Governor also planted a palm tree to mark his visit. The delegation concluded the visit with a luncheon at GPIC Complex. In a statement, Dr. Jawahery said the visit was a good occasion to brief the Russian delegation on Bahrain’s industrial development. He thanked H.E. the Capital Governor for accompanying the visitors and said such visits also allow guests an opportunity to learn about Bahrain’s modern workforce and its capabilities in managing large industrial enterprises. The visiting Russian delegation includes 60 representatives from various sectors of Government and representatives of private companies and institutions.
