Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Egyptian president hold
Riyadh, January 13 , SPA -- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak
held here today a meeting attended on the Saudi side by Prince
Misha'al bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of Allegiance-Pledge Commission;
Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and
Aviation and Inspector General; Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz, Minister
of Municipal and Rural Affairs; Prince Saud Alfaisal, the Foreign
Minister; Prince Abdul-Ellah bin Abdulaziz, Adviser to the King and
Hisham Mohieddin Nazir, Saudi Ambassador to Egypt.
On the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Minister of Foreign
Affairs Ahmed Abul Gheit, Minister of Information Anas Fiqqi, Chief
of General Intelligence Omar Suleiman, and Chief of the President's
Court Dr. Zakaria Azmi, Mahmoud Mohammed Ouf, and Egyptian Ambassador
to the Kingdom and President's Secretary for Information and
Follow-up Ambassador Suleiman Awad.
Following the meeting, the following statement was issued:
In Riyadh on 13 January 2009, a Saudi-Egyptian summit was held during
the visit of President Mohammad Hosni Mubarak to Riyadh. During the
meeting, the consultations between Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Egyptian President Mohammad Hosni
Mubarak focused on the bloody situation in Gaza and the hostilities
carried out by Israel against the Palestinian people. The Saudi and
Egyptian sides agreed on:
1- The necessity of reaching an immediate ceasefire and the immediate
and full implementation of the noble initiative launched by President
Mohammad Hosni Mubark.
2- Participation by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Egypt in the Arab
Summit Conference in Kuwait to achieve the Arab interests and deal
with the Palestinian cause with the aim of stopping the aggression
and achieving peace for the Palestinian people.
